What is Serve?
Serve is a prepaid card offered by American Express that is very similar to Bluebird. I consider it to be far superior though, since it offers you the ability to manufacture more money per month. It was originally created to be a checking alternative, but using it for manufactured spending is far more profitable!

Why Use Serve?
Serve and Bluebird are both great prepaid cards to have, however American Express only allows you to have one or the other. You can see how they compare in this post. I prefer Serve, since you can manufacture more money a month than you can Bluebird. Serve gives you the opportunity to manufacture $8,000 a month vs Bluebird’s $6,000.

Sign up for Serve
You can only sign up for Serve if you do not have a Bluebird account. If you have Bluebird account already, you will need to close it first.

1. Go Serve.com and register on the left side of the page.

2. Select whether you purchased a temporary card or not. You can purchase them at CVS, Walgreens, and a few other stores, however I would not suggest it because it is an extra $2.95 fee that is not worth paying for.

3. Enter your information (name, address, phone) and select “Agree and Continue”.

4. Now enter the rest of your information (social security number, date of birth, email, password, ect.) and submit your application.

5. After you submit the application they will need you to confirm your email, which is easily done. Now, just wait 5-7 business days for your new card!

How to Use Serve
Serve can be loaded with a credit card, debit card, cash, vanilla reloads, and by your bank. You can effectively manufacture $7,000 with Serve by using a few of these methods. If you add ISIS into the mix you can do another $1,000 with Serve. If you are interested in Serve tutorials, check out this page.

ISIS (Disclaimer: That is a referral link. Thank you for your support!) is a new program similar to Google Wallet that has been developed by AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. It lets you store all of your credit cards on your phone, so you can use it to pay anyone anywhere. What makes ISIS so great is that they have partnered with American Express to offer some extra Serve benefits. Let’s break it down:

Serve Without ISIS

VR or Cash/CC/DC Load At CVS/7-11$1,000 per day - $5,000 per month ($500 per swipe at CVS)
Credit Card Load Online$200 per day - $1,000 per month
Debit Card Load Online$200 per day - $1,000 per month

Serve With ISIS

VR or Cash/CC/DC Load At CVS/7-11$1,000 per day - $5,000 per month ($500 per swipe at CVS)
Credit Card Load Online$500 per day - $1,500 per month
Debit Card Load Online$500 per day - $1,500 per month

As you can see the extra $1,000 by using ISIS is extremely useful! You will need a newer Android phone or an NFC case for your iPhone to use the ISIS wallet. You can check what phones are eligible here. To make things even better, ISIS and Serve are currently offering a bonus for signing up. You get a $40 bonus if you sign up for Serve on your Verizon ISIS account, $25 if you sign up on your T-Mobile ISIS account, and $50 if you sign up on your AT&T ISIS account. If you want to take advantage of this offer, download the ISIS app (make sure your phone is eligible) and sign up for a Serve account through the app. That’s all there is to it. The bonus will be immediately deposited into your ISIS account.

But wait, that’s not the only bonus!

Serve Isis Mobile Wallet

Serve and ISIS are offering another bonus until 6/30/14. You will get $1 back for every purchase you make using Serve and your ISIS wallet – up to $50 per month. If you signed up by April and maxes out the promotion you would get an extra $150 bonus for using Serve and ISIS. As you can tell, I am extremely excited about Serve and ISIS’s relationship. I love the idea of making easy money.

  • You can load money with a debit card AND credit card online.
  • Chase, Citi, Capital One, Paypal and Barclay earn points/miles/cash back when loading Serve online, however American Express does not.
  • There is a 30 day wait between closing a Bluebird or Serve account and being able to sign up for either one again. You can counteract this by signing up via their mobile app after closing one of your accounts.
  • There is no hard credit inquiry for signing up.
  • Make sure to load this card with at least $500 a month otherwise you will get hit with a $1 monthly fee.
