Switch From Serve Or Bluebird, To It’s Counterpart

Bulebird vs ServeThe death of our beloved VRs at CVS is sad, but it’s time to move on. As i mentioned previously, I am switching back to Bluebird from Serve. Whether you are switching from Serve or Bluebird, there is supposed to be a 30 day wait. The customer service representatives say that the database takes this time to update. That may or may not be true, but there are workarounds to avoid the delay.


  • Make sure you zero out your account via Bill Pay or bank transfer. Also, make sure all of your bills/transfers are complete before closing.
  • Max out your monthly loads (5k swipe reloads/VRs, 1-1.5k credit/debit reloads) before closing your account. That way you can load 10k+ a month by switching.

1. First, you need to close your account. With Serve, it’s very easy. All you do is login and go to your profile, which is in the upper right hand corner underneath the “Add Money” button. Now scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Close Account”. To close Bluebird, you need to call 877-486-5990 and ask the CSR to close your account. This conversation should only take about 5 minutes, but it is still kind of a pain.

Close Serve Account2. Now that the account is closed, it’s time to open a new account. Download either the Serve app or Bluebird app on your phone. If you are switching to Serve, I suggest you sign-up through ISIS to get a free $40 bonus. Now, go through the sign-up process. Try to use the exact information you used when you signed up for the account you closed. Doing that has the highest success rate.

3. Once you finish the sign-up process, there are two possible things that will happen. First, it may work flawlessly! This is likely the case if you are signing-up for Bluebird. If you are signing up for Serve, chances are you will get this message: “We’re still processing your application. Please check your email for an update”. Don’t panic if this happens! Apparently, it happens to most everyone. All you need to do is call Serve at 800-555-4318 and ask if they can speed up the processing of your application. Likely, they will send you an email to verify your account, after which you will be all set!

4. Verify your email and BAM! Your card will be there in about 5-7 business days.
