Reconsideration calls are extremely important in the world of manufactured spending. Many of you probably already understand reconsideration calls, however for those that don’t a reconsideration call is where you call a credit card company to try and reverse a denied application. There is no guarantee that reconsideration calls are going to get your account approved, however it doesn’t hurt to try since they did a hard inquiry on your account anyway.
My mother-in-law recently applied for a Chase Sapphire Preferred, which is one of my favorite cards by the way, and her application went “into review”. So, she waited it out. After about five days, she received a letter in the mail from Chase that said her application was denied. Then I told her about the reconsideration line, which she called the next day. They verified some information and approved her right away!
My last reconsideration call did not go quite as well. I applied for the Barclaycard US Airways card which immediately went “into review”. Of course, I immediately called them to see if I could get it expedited. The first call did not go well, because they could not find my application, so I called again the next day. I was told that I was denied due to too many recent credit inquiries…ugh. I then tried calling a different customer service representative in hopes of getting a different answer. Again, I was denied due to too many recent credit inquiries. So, ultimately I did not get that card, but it was worth trying since the credit inquiry was already on my account.
