Jet.com is a website that aims to compete with Amazon, as an online retailer, and Costco, as a membership club offering deep discounts. As of right now, Jet.com has yet to lauch, but from the sounds of it they will be launching at the end of February.
There are still a lot of unknowns about Jet.com, but what we do know is promising. Take a look…
As I mentioned above, you move up in rank when you refer new users to Jet. The ranking system works as follows:
As of this writing there are 271,819 people signed up and there are only 8 days left to improve your rank. If you’re interested in getting 6 months of Jet.com for free, you can sign-up here.
Is this site a scam?
It was started by the founder of Diapers.com, Marc Lore, a few years after he sold the site/business to Amazon. So, I would say no, it’s not a scam.
Will this be a marketplace I can resell on?
They will have a marketplace open to retailers, but it’s unknown if they’ll allow reselling on their site. If they can provide an FBA-like system that costs less, I’ll hop on it in a heartbeat.
Will they offer something similar to Amazon Prime Shipping?
They will offer free shipping and returns, but it will likely be 3-5 day shipping instead of 2 day, like Amazon.
How much is the membership fee?
$49.99 after your free membership is up.
Are the prices actually going to be competitive with Amazon?
I don’t know, but if they charge a membership fee, they’ll need to be to keep customers happy. What’s interesting about Jet is that they won’t be warehousing products. Instead, they’ll be a marketplace, like eBay. The only profit they’ll make is from membership fees, or so they say.
Are they really giving away stocks?
Sort of. If you rank high enough to earn them (in the top 10), they give you the opportunity to buy them at a very affordable rate. Check out their FAQ below for more info.
What’s your rank?
As of this post, it’s 780.
