Every month, I make it a point to post the previous month’s income and traffic received on this blog. Why? Because I think it’s important to stay transparent and accountable for everything I post.

frugalhack.me Income Report October 2014

October was a great month. There were a few high-traffic days and a few posts I was quite proud of. On top of that, my blog received more views and visitors than September and I hit the highest amount of visitors I have ever had in a one month period. That’s pretty awesome!

In October, my blog saw an 8% increase in views and an 11% increase in visitors compared to September. It’s a small increase, but an increase is still an increase. I’m still experimenting with different SEO plugins and tactics, which seems to be having some effect. I’ve also been sharing my posts on my social networks, which hasn’t really helped much, but maybe it will in the future.

Anyway, here are the final numbers:

Income

This month’s blog income is little less than last month’s, but it’s still nothing to scoff at. Here’s the breakdown:

SeptemberOctober
Media.net Ads:$40.64$60.29
Amazon Associates:$0.21$4.32
Chime:$70$40
Hosting:-$52.89-$52.89
Total Profit:$57.96$51.72

My blog’s Media.net ads income was about $20 higher than last month, which is surprising since I replaced the front page ad with a different one for most of the month. I think the difference came from the 11% increase in visitors.

My Chime referral income, on the other hand, was $30 less than last month due to the fact that the usefulness of Chime is in question. Also, Chime’s newest referral program is limited to five people, which I’ve hit. So, if you have Chime and you want to post your referral link, feel free to post it on either of the posts I just linked to. Someone should get credit for the referrals!

The funniest statistic from last month was the amount of small-value gift cards that were purchased on Amazon. It looks like some readers might be trying to hit transaction requirements. Feel free to continue using my Amazon link on the sidebar for that. I’m fine with it. 😉

Amazon Associates IncomeIn addition to the Amazon gift cards, there were also a bunch of small value purchases made through my affiliate links. This was primarily because of the $20 deal for using Membership Rewards points on Amazon.

Conclusion

This month saw an increase in viewers and visitors, and it also finished in the black! I couldn’t ask for any more than that. Thank you all for reading, commenting, and using my referral links. It means a lot to me! If you have any suggestions as to how I could continue making my blog better, please leave them in the comments.

Come back next month for November’s report.
